Aged to Perfect Control
For more than 20 years, NEMACUR® has shown excellent control against the major genera of nematodes including root knot, root lesion, sting, lance and ring nematodes. Nemacur offers contact activity, and when used according to directions, it can provide effective protection against nematode damage. And in bermudagrass, centipedegrass, bluegrass and bentgrass, just one application often allows the turfgrass to recover.
Nemacur Label Restriction
In 2002, Bayer Environmental Science and the Environmental Protection Agency reached an agreement for the phaseout of Nemacur products in the turf industry. Due to the efforts of golf course superintendents' associations, a long-term phaseout plan was agreed upon instead of immediate removal of Nemacur from the market.
As a result of the agreement, Nemacur phaseout will occur as follows:
1. As of May 31, 2007, Bayer will be prohibited from selling or distributing existing Nemacur stock.
2. The sale and distribution of existing Nemacur stock by persons other than Bayer (i.e., distributors) may continue until May 31, 2008.
3. The use of Nemacur stock in trade channels may continue until depleted (even after May 31, 2008), except where prohibited by the label.
The current label states:
"After May 31, 2005, do not apply to hydrologic soil group A soils that are excessively drained and predominately sand or loamy sand such as soils in the suborder psamments with shallow water tables (less than 50 feet deep). These classifications and soil taxonomy refer to USDA definitions. If you are unsure of the type of soil you are treating, please consult with your county's extension agent or the product manufacturer."
